Can’t believe how fast the last year has gone. Last autism awareness day was three days after I had got married in the beautiful historic city of York. We arrived there on the friday, married Saturday, and returned home monday. Monday was spent preparing for World Autism Awareness Day. Autism has been part of our lives for three years now. Well obviously it’s been part of my daughters life since birth, but it didn’t start to emerge until she was around 18 months. This time last year autism was still very new to me, and something I was still trying to understand. So last year I contacted all local small businesses and invited them to show their support for the autism community and light my home town up blue. The response was better than I could have ever imagined, with shops giving out blue iced cakes, dressing their windows with blue stock, and softplays offering free entry and cakes.
This year I decided to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day but putting together a photo album of my daughters journey. I want to make parents aware of the signs, how to get help and show support.
I’ve left the privacy of this album as public, so anyone who would like to take a look can find it at the link at the top of this blog
